PHMSA proposes to change the Hazardous Materials Regulations to maintain alignment with international standards by incorporating various amendments, including changes to proper shipping names, hazard classes, packing groups, special provisions, packaging authorizations, air transport limited quantities, and vessel stowage requirements.

These revisions are necessary to harmonize the Hazardous Materials Regulations with recent changes made to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air, and the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods—Model Regulations.

DATES: Effective date: January 19, 2011.

Voluntary compliance date is beginning January 1, 2011.

Delayed compliance date: Compliance with the amendments adopted in this final rule is required beginning January 1, 2012.

This insulated shipper is the perfect overpack container for shipping regulated specimens which must be kept frozen or refrigerated. The lightweight, yet extremely durable Infecon 6000 holds up to 10 kg. of dry ice.

This EPS foam shipper is not UN rated. It can be used to stabilize the  INF-2000, INF-2050, INF-3000, the Speci-Freez grid system (4759L) and many other shippers in the form of an overpack*.
